Parentage of Francis currently unknown to the author. Whilst it is possible he was the last son of Thomas Tunaley Snr.(click here), this is in doubt as there is no mention of Francis in Thomas' will and there appears to be no birth or baptisn/christening records which name the parents of Francis, as is the case with all Thomas' known offspring.

1841 Census: Francis given as "ribbon weaver", living at William St., Derby. Children are: Jane Harriet, Emma and Elizabeth.

1851 Census: same address as above - all 8 first children as listed.

1861 Census: now living at Albany Road, New Basford, Nottingham. Nine children listed but missing are Jane (now married) Emma, Thomas and the original Frank (died 1852). Emma and Thomas may well have moved on. Another Frank born 1856. Occupation of Francis is now given as Silk Weaver. Harriet, Elizabeth and Sarah are given as Silk Winders.

1871 census: now livng back in Derby at 35, Talbot Street. Occupation given; Elastic Web Weaver. William, Frank, and Louie (who died 1873) remaining children resident at the house. 3 lodgers.

1881 census: Francis and Hannah living alone at 43, Talbot St., Derby aged 67 and 65 repectively.

1891 Census: Francis and Hannah living alone at 2 Talbot St., Derby aged 77 and 75 years. Francis given as retired silk weaver.
